Moving From desktop to hosted web publishing: a case study in coordination of a multi-state grassroots campaign

Presenters: Clif Graves and Josh Myles, IT Consultants

Audience: Non-technical

In late 2005 Project Vote saw the need for a way to coordinate and record voter card collection for offices in many states during the upcoming campaign cycle. Initially the plan was to use desktop software (FileMaker). A last minute decision moved from Desktop to Web and from a local server to one Hosted at a commercial web host. This workshop will present the approach that was used, Instant web publishing with a commercial web host, the cost and other factors leading to that choice and report on the successes, problems and outcome to date.
