Rethinking Nonprofit Communications in a Web 2.0 World

This session offers a practical framework for evaluating traditional websites (think Dreamweaver) against the communication possibilities of the current generation of content management systems (notably, drupal).

  • Audit your current communication strategies and think strategically about your audiences

  • Assess the advantages and disadvantages adding interactive features to an existing traditional web site.
  • Explore how CMS systems provide options such as blogs, news and news feeds, calendars for content fresh and lively for public communication
  • Evaluate how web 2.0 tools can accelerate community building, collaborative learning, and more effective organizing.

  • We will use examples from recent drupal web projects while also highlighting other tool options. You are encouraged to pose questions to help frame the discussion now at http://www.dbdes.com/grtech07
