An interview “A long way to a smile” with Michael Kreitmeir
AidConnect Newsletter 10/2007
Focus of the Month
The Focus of the Month is an interview “A long way to a smile” with Michael Kreitmeir, founder and president of the Little Smile Association in Sri Lanka. Michael Kreitmeir used his own savings to set up the children's village. Since the tsunami catastrophe, he has all but given up his life in Germany in order to concentrate on the diverse projects. Reading the interview you will learn more about his vision and work - and further more about the problems and chances of "private" development work in Sri Lanka.
If you share similar or contrary experiences in Sri Lanka we would like to encourage you to publish your topic here - http://www.aidconnect.org/topic/default.aspx?location=_Home@_Topic
Project of the Quarter
The Project of the Month is „Little Smile”. In 1999, the TV journalist Michael Kreitmeier started Little Smile, a project for neglected and traumatized war orphans, in the mountains of Sri Lanka. Little Smile ensures children a loving home and career prospects by empowering them to help themselves. With the donations collected, several projects have already been launched, such as a pepper and rose plantation, a sewing school, a joiners' workshop and an Ayurveda school.
